CMS – De motor onder het geheel
Voor een portal, zoals we die in gedachte hadden voor Leermens.net (zie missie), zijn er twee voor de hand liggende OpenSource CMS-en: Joomla en WordPress.
We hebben gekozen voor WordPress boven Joomla omdat
- WordPress laagdrempeliger is het initieel opzetten dat Joomla. Joomla is krachtiger in het ontwikkelen van webapplicaties (winkels e.d.). Hierdoor zijn er meer mogelijkheden en is het complexer
- WordPress ontstaan is vanuit het Bloggen en heeft hiervoor ook veel standaard functies beschikbaar. Een blog is een bericht en de kern van Leermens.net is het publiceren van berichten.
Dit overzicht beschrijft verder alles wat je nodig hebt om een WordPress site op te zetten voor bijvoorbeeld een Dorps of Wijk portaal a la Leermens.net.
Wat heb je minimaal nodig voor opzet van een WordPress site
- Domainleverancier: Mijn favoriete domainleverancier is www.whois.net (kosten ~$10,- per jaar)
- Hosting met PHP en een SQL-db: Mijn servers host ik bijna allen bij Warpnet (kosten, bel ze op: 050 36 000 11). Zij hebben daar standaard php5, mysql5 en apache2 met fcgi.
- Een niveau nijntje FTP product om de naar je PC gedownloade wordpresssoftware, plugings en themes te uploaden naar je host-server. Mijn persoonlijke vookeur is ALFTP (freeware)
Gebruikte wordpress Theme (vormgeving)
Voor Leermens.net hebben we gebruik gemaakt van het Atahualpa Theme (freeware)
Gebruikte wordpress Plugin’s (extra functies, allen freeware of OpenSource)
Nb. Minimaal nodig voor het uitwisselen van evenementen zijn de Feedwordpress en Eventcalendar plugin’s.
